Appointment of the new Chairman of the JIC and Head of Intelligence
Assessment
15 November 2007
The Prime Minister has today announced the appointed of Alex Allan,
currently Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Justice, to the position
of Chairman of the Joint Intelligence Committee and Head of Intelligence
Assessment.
In July, the Prime Minister announced his intention to separate out the
role of JIC Chairman and Head of Intelligence Assessment from the policy
advice role, now being done by Robert Hannigan. This announcement completes
that process.
Alex will take up his post in the near future.
In the short interlude before Alex Allan takes up his post as JIC Chairman,
the Cabinet Office will, later today make an announcement about the interim
arrangements for chairing the Committee.
